Audience Research Analysis

By creating a questionnaire me and the people I've been working with (Jennie, James and Kristy) we have been able to gather a great deal of quantitative data. By doing this we have established our target audience is in the age range of 16-25 and surprisingly it's dominantly female. We've concluded that trailers are how people hear about a film and what makes them want to see a new film depending on the quality of said trailer. We can see the favorite for films is the gore genre, whilst planning out trailer and initial idea we will make an effort to take this into account in order to make this film appealing to a wider audience. According to our research, people are more inclined to see a film when it has a good story line, because of this we will make sure to have a good background story that will appeal to everyone and make sure it makes sense and has reason. Many people have said clearly that the jumpy scenes scare them the most, we plan on including many cuts or flashes to white in the trailer during the sequence of events section in which clips of scary parts of the film are shown and builds up tension without giving away much of the film to the audience.

To gain further qualitative data we asked questions and after we asked a quantative questions asking the person to elaberate why they like horror movies, or what their favourite is. This helped us get more insite into the publics opinions on horror and what interrests people most. Theis helped us to understand that psycological horrors mixed with gore are very succesful in films such as silent hill.
